AN ASIAN almost forced a play-off, two Ryder Cup teammates traded birdies and the outright lead, and Sentosa stayed dry for the first time in days.

Liang Wenchong, Ian Poulter, Graeme McDowell and the weather gods all combined to serve up an enthralling spectacle on the final day of the Barclays Singapore Open.

The record books will state only that Englishman Poulter won his first title in two years, but not the fact that China's No.1 Liang put up a display that again proved that the gap between Asian and European golfers is narrowing rapidly.
