Thailand’s Sattaya Supupramai went on a birdie blitz to emerge as the first-round leader in the US$50,000 Heritage Malacca Classic at the Tiara Malacca Golf and Country Club yesterday.
Supupramai shot 10 birdies against a bogey on the sixth hole to finish with a nine-under 63 for a three-stroke lead over fellow Thai Pongthep Jaewchamnanchap. Singaporean Quincy Quek was placed third on five-under 67.
The best-placed Malaysians were Airil Rizman and S. Murthy, who both carded a four-under 68 to share fourth spot with Filipino Antonio Lascuna.
